Mother’s day May 13 2012 is right around the corner. (Fathers day is June 17 2012) This is the time when children can show their mother that she’s appreciated. Finding different ways to surprise mom can be challenging. Regardless of how you plan on expressing your appreciation, it doesn’t have to cost a lot to do so. As long as your gesture comes from the heart, you can’t go wrong. Breakfast: Start Mother’s Day 2012 with a homemade breakfast. In many households, it’s the mother who always gets up in the morning to make breakfast. On this special day, allow mom to sleep in. Younger kids may need a helping hand from dad to prepare mom’s favorite breakfast foods. Serve mom breakfast in bed, or set the table so all family members can enjoy breakfast with her.
Clean Up
Mom always seems to be the person picking up after the kids. On Mother’s Day, make cleaning off-limits to her. Kids can do the dishes, clean their room, take out the trash and wash mom’s car to put the cherry on top. Kids can give mom a coupon book with small chores to do around the house. In future, mom can use the coupons to get her kids to complete certain chores.

A photo collage is a great way to reminisce and bring back fun memories. Find photos of family vacations or other unforgettable moments and stick them on a large, poster size piece of paper. Write fun comments below each picture. It’s sure to leave mom speechless.
Thank you card:
A simple “thank you” goes a long way. On a daily basis, many mothers act as a cook, cleaning lady, chauffeur and babysitter all in one. To show her that this doesn’t go unnoticed, buy her a thank you card, or make a card right at home. Use your own words to express how grateful you are for all the things she does. It’ll make her feel appreciated and loved.
